Gordy Megroz is a journalist based in Colorado. He’s the author of “100 Slopes of a Lifetime.” Published by National Geographic, the book is an illustrated guide to 100 great ski and snowboard trails throughout the world.
As a contributing editor for Outside magazine and regular contributor to GQ, Men's Journal, Bloomberg Businessweek, Wired, and The New York Times, Megroz writes investigative pieces, as well as profiles of athletes, companies, and places. He also extensively explores the latest gear, health, nutrition, and fitness trends. And he's never afraid to sacrifice his body for a good story.
His 2020 Wired story, Across the Line, was selected by the magazine as one of its top stories of the year. His 2014 piece for Mountain magazine, The Spike in Our Veins—a look at the impact of the heroin epidemic on mountain communities—won the Western Publishing Association award for best news story in a consumer publication.
Megroz was born and raised in Vermont and received his undergraduate degree from Boston College. He later attended Emerson College, where he pursued a master's degree in journalism. He began his journalism career as an editor at Outside and was later an editor at Men's Journal.
